Construction Works of Vratsa Bypass to Start
The chairman of the Management Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency, engineer Lazar Lazarov, signed the contract on the construction of “Vratsa bypass – road I-1 (Е79) from km 0+000 to km 6+816,60”. The project is co-funded by the EU Cohesion Fund and the national budget under Operational Programme “Transport” 2007-2013.
The construction contract of Vratsa bypass amounts to BGN 14 600 989.45, inclusive of VAT. The contractor is the “Obhod Vratsa” Union consisting of Trace Group Hold PLC, Sofia, and PSI PLC, Stara Zagora. Engineer Tsvetan Tsonev signed it on behalf of the construction company. The ceremony was attended by Minister Lilyana Pavlova, the members of the MB of RIA Ms. Lazarinka Stoichkova and engineer Iliyana Zaharieva and others.
The total length of the section is 6. 817 km. The project includes the construction of one road junction, two four-branch crossings and one circular crossing, etc. The deadline for implementation is 360 calendar days.
The site in question is part of Pan-European Transport Corridor No.IV. As a section of road Е-79 it connects three European states – Romania, Bulgaria and Greece. With the launch of the second Danube bridge at Vidin-Kalafat the transit traffic in the northeast of Bulgaria will increase, since this direction will be used more frequently as the shortest route between Western and Central Europe and the Aegean Sea and also as a connection between Europe and Asia.
The contract on construction supervision with Traffic Holding Ltd will also be signed.
