More than BGN 21 million have been invested in the rehabilitation of 32 km of road II-59 Momchilgrad – Krumovgrad
The rehabilitation of 32 km of the second-class road II-59 Momchilgrad – Krumovgrad – Ivaylovgrad has been completed. The project is co-funded by the Cross-Border Cooperation Program INTERREG VA Greece – Bulgaria 2014 – 2020 and the national budget. The investment is for over BGN 21 million including VAT.
The section which was subject to major repair is part of the international route Kardzhali – Momchilgrad – Krumovgrad – Ivaylovgrad – Border Crossing Point Slaveevo – Kiprinos (Greece) and is of great importance for regional and international tourism. The road provides a convenient connection for a large number of tourists traveling daily to neighbouring Greece. During the last programming period, 18 km from the national road in the section from Momchilgrad to the village of Karamfil were rehabilitated with funds from Operational Program “Regional Development” 2007 – 2013 (lot 12). With the successful implementation of the projects that are now completed, more than 50 km of the second class road have been repaired.
The construction works completed this year are divided into two sections. The first is about 6 km (from 24th to 30th km) and the second is about 26 km (from 30th to 56th km).
The rehabilitation of the nearly 6-kilometer stretch – from the village of Karamfil to the junction for the Studen Kladenets dam is funded by the state budget. The section has a new asphalt pavement and a new road structure has been built in the locations with low bearing capacity. Drainage through the construction of new drains, trenches and banquets, has been improved. New safety systems, road signs and markings have been installed. Two bridges have been repaired – at km 27 above the Krumovitsa River 120 m long and at km 29, which is 8 m long. Both bridges have new waterproofing, pavement and sidewalks. The safety systems and railings of the structures have been restored.
The contractor of the section from the 24th to the 30th km is DZZD IZTOCHNI RODOPI 3, which includes: Patstroyengineering AD, PSK Viastroy EOOD, Patishta AD, BSK – Gorna Oryahovitsa AD and Atlas Balkan OOD. The contract value is BGN 3,390,639.742 including VAT. The construction supervision was carried out by Strol 1000 AD. Their contract is for BGN 51,000 with VAT. The author's supervision is carried out by Transconsult - 22 OOD. Their contract is for BGN 17,880 including VAT.
Under the INTERREG VA Greece – Bulgaria 2014-2020 Cross-border Cooperation Program, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the national budget, major repair has been made to 26.4 km. This is the section from the beginning of the town Krumovgrad to the fork for Popsko village. The reconstructed route passes through four settlements – the town of Krumovgrad, the village of Polkovnik Zhelyazovo, the village of Rogach and the village of Pelin. A complete reconstruction of the road pavement was carried out in Krumovgrad. New asphalt has been laid throughout the rehabilitated section, as well as drainage with new concrete curbs, drainage chutes and lined trenches has been fulfilled. All drains have been cleaned and extended and five new ones have been built. New safety systems, road signs and markings have been installed. Near km 41 a reinforced concrete wall is built with a length of 46 m. The slope behind the wall is reinforced by geogrid and humus.
The contractor of this section is Association ROAD II-59, which includes: GP Group AD and Kontratas Iglesias AD. The contract for construction works is for BGN 17,989,382.71 including VAT. The construction supervision was carried out by PLAN INVEST PLOVDIV EOOD. Their contract is BGN 220,056 including VAT. The author’s supervision is carried out by Transconsult - 22 OOD. Their contract is for BGN 4,200 with VAT.
